Cardiff International Airport is 12 miles (19 km) from the City centre with regular direct flights from UK and European destinations. Connections to International destinations are available via Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris Charles de Gaulle airports.

Bristol International Airport is only 1 hour away and has regular flights to many European destinations (served by budget airlines such as easyjet and ryanair) and a daily service to New York - Newark. The Bristol International Flyer bus service links the airport to Bristol Temple Meads railway station from where there is a regular train service to Cardiff Central. It is also possible to use the hire car service at the airport and to drive (see By Road below).

London Heathrow, with its many International flights, is about 2-3hrs away. A regular direct bus service to Cardiff is run by National Express. For train services there are two options, taking the Heathrow express rail service to London Paddington and then the direct train to Cardiff or the Rail Air link (shuttle bus service) to Reading Railway Station and then the direct train to Cardiff. It is also possible to use the hire car service at the airport and to drive (see By Road below).

Birmingham, Manchester and other London Airports (Gatwick, Stansted and Luton) are also accessible to Cardiff either by high-speed InterCity train or coach.
High-speed trains link most cities with Cardiff. The journey time from London Paddington to Cardiff is under two hours and leaves every 30 minutes during the day.
Regional railways operate modern air-conditioned trains direct to Cardiff from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Bristol, Southampton, Exeter, Portsmouth...
The M4 Motorway runs through the north of the city, making Bristol and London a comfortable drive away. From the Midlands, the North of England and Scotland it is a straightforward drive via the M6, M5 and M50/M4. From the South and South West of England the approach is by M5 and M4. Access from West Wales is by M4. Please note that both of the Severn Bridges linking Wales with England are toll bridges and only accept cash.
