Opened in 1916, this was the original purpose-built home for the Cardiff Technical College, later becoming the main building of UWIST (University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology) with which University College Cardiff merged in 1988 to form what is now Cardiff University. It has a simple, neo-classical interior and an exterior adorned by a large red dragon.
The conference lunches will take place in Aberdare Hall that is a short (300 metres) walk from Bute Building. Aberdare Hall was built in 1893 and retains many interesting period features.

The welcome reception will take place in the Viriamu Jones Gallery, in the Univeristy Main Building, a very short distance from Bute Building, on the other side of Alexandra Gardens.
The conference dinner will take place in the National Museum and Gallery of Wales, in the Civic Centre a short walk from the City Centre and the main conference venue. Entertainment will be provided by Bridgend male choir.
All conference venues are in the Cardiff Civic Centre (the highlighted square on the map).
